The recent cold weather has created stunning scenes at Thorp Perrow Arboretum near Bedale in North Yorkshire.
The beautiful Autumn colours were still in full flow at Thorp Perrow when the snow arrived overnight, and dusted the 100acres in a blanket of white, leading to some uncommon and beautiful scenes.
Faith Douglas, Curator at the Arboretum said “In the seven years I have been Curator at Thorp Perrow, I have never seen this extraordinary combination of Autumn leaf colour and snowfall.”
Climatic conditions through this year’s growing season proved ideal for particularly vibrant and extensive Autumn colour, quite late in the season which has been unusually warm. These striking colours were still attracting visitors over the last few days, when the snow began falling on Tuesday night.
