Moved ‘up north’ 20 years ago and only visited this place on Sunday…. in the chilly month of January. What a place! Friendly staff and beautiful walks. All the trees are labelled and you can get a guide book to tell you exactly what they are. We walked 3 miles after a bacon bun in the cafe, then returned just before 4pm for a cuppa and a slice of cake. But the highlight of my afternoon was stroking a wallaby! Great for children and adults alike… walking, scenery, animals to pet and a brilliant and informative owl/ birds of prey flying display. Small plant centre just outside and the promise of snowdrop and daffodil displays in Feb and March… awesome children’s play area. What’s not to like? Can’t wait to return… with my disabled brother in law… because wheel chair access is great!
